A group of personal travel managers (PTMs) recently experienced the beauty of northern Western Australia on a famil trip hosted by Australia’s North West Tourism. Participants on the mega-famil – Karen Doyle, Katy Hurd, Penny Meallin and Peter Carmichael – had the opportunity to experience one of five different itineraries. Victorian PTMs Doyle, Hurd and Meallin immersed themselves in Broome and Eco Beach, while Newcastle-based Carmichael experienced the best Gibb River Road and Kununurra had to offer.

Carmichael found it difficult to choose a highlight from his packed itinerary.

“The sunset camel ride along Cable Beach was a fantastic way to start our Kimberly adventure and I enjoyed our beer tasting at Matso’s Broome Brewer. Our 4WD adventure, overnight at Home Valley Station – with its breathtaking towering gorges and stunning ancient landforms and ranges; El Questro Wilderness Park in the untamed Kimberley region and a scenic flight over the Bungle Bungles were certainly highlights.”

For Doyle, it was the ‘mud and bubbles’ experience that was memorable.

“It’s not every day a girl gets to enjoy a glass of bubbles whilst being completely covered in mud! The mangrove mud from Jack’s Creek is said to have healing powers, I’m not one hundred percent convinced about that, but my skin definitely felt smooth afterwards so it must have done something!” said Doyle.

All five itineraries ended at the Cable Beach Club Resort in Broome, where each group presented their experiences before enjoying a farewell dinner.

“The final night get together was a fantastic way to learn more about North West Australia. From my own personal experiences and that of the other participants, I feel more aware of the many different products available in this region. I feel I confidently plan and implement my client’s holiday plans with ease now,” said Meallin.

TravelManagers offers an extensive educational program in conjunction with trade partner suppliers and executive general manager Michael Gazal said the ability for PTMs to experience both domestic and overseas famils is important.

“TravelManagers prides itself on providing exceptional and personal customer service, which comes from firsthand knowledge and experience. Educationals that allow immersion into a destination, such as our co-created supplier famils are critical and why we proactively work with our partner suppliers to provide as many educational opportunities as possible.”
