Amanda Brady enjoys a warm welcome from a Fijian warrior
Four Queensland-based personal travel managers experienced the very best of Fiji on a recent mega famil hosted by Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways.
Participants on the mega-famil were split into four, each enjoying a multi-itinerary famil experience of the Mamanuca Islands, Yasawa Islands, Coral Coast and Fiji’s North. The eight-day famil itineraries were designed to ensure all participants, no matter where in Fiji they visited, received a great insight into Fiji’s depth of product and diversity.
Amanda Brady, representative for Wellington Point, and Lillie Smith representative for Toowong, visited the iconic Mamanuca Island group.
“I didn’t really understand the proximity of each island to the mainland, the different styles of the resorts compared to those on the mainland and even the best way to get out to the islands! As a result I can now provide first hand tips and experience to my clients. Without doubt this was an extremely valuable trip for me as it’s personal recommendations that make all the difference,” said Brady.

Denielle Rooney cools off in a local watering hole
Denielle Rooney, representative for Camp Mountain, experienced the Coral Coast for the first time.
“Prior to this famil I had only seen Denarau, Nadi and the Mamanuca Islands. Because of my experience I have always recommended my clients go to the islands because it is the ‘island paradise’ that you picture when you think of Fiji. My view of the Coral Coast has changed completely, it is a visually stunning and culturally enriching wonderland.”
Rooney said travelling through the towns and villages every day gave her an insight into the real Fiji.
“You never tire of the local people, their beautiful smiles and the genuineness that greets you everywhere you go. Every single Fijian, no matter what they are doing will stop and wave at you and say ‘Bula’. They are such happy people, you may be a complete stranger but they will treat you as a long lost friend. It is this warm Fijian hospitality that really makes your holiday.”
The personal travel managers all agree that Fiji provide Australians a cultural, relaxing and great value for money holiday experience that caters for both couples and families.
All famil groups came together on the final night, concluding with an evening farewell cocktail party at the Nadi Farmers Club.
“The final night get together was a fantastic way to learn more about the other areas of Fiji. From my own personal experiences and that of the other participants, I feel more aware of the many different products available in this region. I feel I confidently plan and implement my client’s holiday plans with ease now,” said Rooney.
