According to TravelManagers, its ongoing success relies in part upon its personal travel managers (PTMs) having regular access to the best possible product training.

Sydney-based personal travel managers recently benefited from this approach, participating in two days of airline-focused product training organised by NSW business partnership manager Julie Anderson.

“It was really satisfying to see how well supported the two training days were. We had PTMs attending from as far away as Wollongong,” said Anderson.

The training took place over two days and was supported by nine airlines: Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Emirates, Finnair, Thai Airways, Etihad, Qantas and United Airlines.

“Over the course of two days, we covered all nine airlines pretty comprehensively: everything from on-board product to schedules and fares, and even picked up some unique hints on how to differentiate stopovers,” Anderson said.

Executive general manager Michael Gazal said the training is a result of feedback received from personal travel managers.

“As a company we place a high level of importance on ensuring that our PTMs are supported in keeping abreast of the complex and ever-changing airline rules, and we know that our PTMs appreciate our efforts to make this happen,” he said.

Maria Furnari, representative for Panania in New South Wales, is one of TravelManagers’ newer PTMs, and she found the sessions to be extremely useful.

“I found them really informative, probably because I am new to TravelManagers. I will definitely be attending more of these training days because it is such a great opportunity to learn first-hand and meet the airline reps in person.”

The other attendees were equally enthusiastic about the opportunity, noting that they valued the opportunity to meet airline reps for some proper face-to-face time.
